About Fellhounds

Thesk, an ancient medieval land of towering forests, treacherous mountains, tumbling waterfalls and rolling, barren fells, is the home of Fellhounds.

The people of Thesk live in villages dotted around the fells.  They farm or rear deer to eke out a living, and have two big worries - the first is that the grasping Lord Rexmoore might tax them out of existence; the second is that the Fellhounds will keep them safe from the Wraithe Wolves of Tel Harion.

Fellhounds are an ancient breed of massive hound.  Many years ago they were crucial on the Moon Chase - a mid-night hunt to protect the villages of Thesk from the deadly Wraithe Wolves that would come down from the mountains to hunt their prey - deer, sheep... oh yes, and people!

Brave and loyal, Fellhounds would fight to the death to protect their masters - the brave Fellmen of Thesk.

Today, the closest living example of an Fellhound is an Irish Wolfhound.

Take a look at the Bridge Readers page to see how my wolfhounds and I are helping struggling and reluctant readers to discover the joys of independent reading.

This is me with Mojo, my Irish wolfhound at 9 months old - he' s still only half the size of a Fellhound!
